Open Letter to a Letter Opener
by Jimmy Chen

By the time you read this, you won't be needed anymore. I've found another form of communication—his name is Émile (though he often goes by Email). Émile has very good memory, and keeps all the notes I've ever sent him. I will, however, miss the times I spent with you, even if they were always inside a drawer. The tip of a blade never feels like a heart, no matter how blind you are. I hate to be so brief, but I think a clean cut between us would incur the least amount of flutter. Please do not respond to this letter. I folded for too long, and now I must leave. That's any way you slice it. Nothing lasts forever, unless we're talking about stamps, which fortunately we are not.
