The DJI Mavic Pro Drone has been touted as one of the best drones since its release and has been on everyone’s wish list. While the DJI Spark Drone has been released recently, DJI fans are eagerly waiting for the release of the second installment of the Mavic series.
Needless to say, it will come with more advanced features and help fliers get a more controlled and smoother flight. There are many rumors about the features of the drone on the Internet and while nothing is confirmed by the company, here’s a break up of everything we know!
DJI Mavic Pro 2 size and design
The Mavic Pro focused a lot of portability and came with foldable arms, making it one of the most portable drones around. It can be expected that the Mavic Pro 2 will also come with the same concept in mind, and have the option for easy transportation.
While the Spark didn’t come with foldable arms, we do hope the Mavic 2 is equipped with them because it becomes much easier to carry the drone in your bag without worrying about breaking the delicate parts like the camera and propellers.
As for the size of the drone, there are chances that it may remain the same since they have recently released the smaller Spark.
DJI Mavic Pro 2 camera
The Mavic Pro can provide fliers with crystal clear 4K footage, which is praiseworthy with its stability and smoothness. But everything has scope for improvement, and so it will be great if the new Mavic 2 could incorporate the addition of a 1-inch image sensor, like the one on the DJI Phantom 4 Pro. Since there is a possibility that the same sensor can be used on DJI’s future drones, the imaging quality of the Mavic could greatly increase.
Another rumor doing the rounds is the fact that like the GoPro Karma Drone, this one too could come with a detachable camera. Firstly, this will help improve portability as the camera can be separately safeguarded and secondly, users will have the option of upgrading the camera if needed.
DJI Mavic Pro 2 flight features
DJI is known to incorporate the latest and best features in their drones, which can compete with any drone or quadcopter in the market. In their next Mavic 2 as well, they will incorporate state of the art technologies that are changing the drone world.
Obstacle avoidance system
One of their biggest achievements in their drones has been the obstacle avoidance system which is available in all their latest drones. The Mavic Pro does come with obstacle avoidance system, but it only has 1 sensor located near the camera.
On the other hand, the DJI Phantom 4 is equipped with 4 sensors, with 1 on each side. It would, of course, be a lot safer if the Mavic 2 also came with multiple sensors instead of just one, making it easier for new fliers and advanced fliers to control the drone.
It is necessary for the drone to be waterproof so that we can ensure its safety while flying and recording around water or water bodies. While it doesn’t need to be a 100% waterproof, some water resistance is the need of the hour. DJI doesn’t have any water resistant drones as of now, so this is a much-awaited feature in the Mavic 2.
The ActiveTrack mode by DJI is extremely popular with users, but it does tend to lose its target and not perform as well as you want it to. If in the Mavic 2, DJI is able to make this feature a more improved one, the company could definitely cement their status as the number 1 drone producer for sure!
DJI Mavic Pro 2 battery
The Mavic Pro does have an impressive up to 30 minutes battery life that exceeds the flight time of many of the drones available right now. But a higher flight can only make it more fun to use!
A rumor doing the rounds is that the new Mavic may come with a Li-Io (Lithium Ion) battery instead of the usual LiPo batteries. This switch up can help users record in extremely cold regions, which is not easily possible right now.
DJI Mavic Pro 2 release date
As for every drone that DJI plans to release, fans everywhere are eagerly waiting for even a glimpse of what the new drone will hold for them. The company has not given any solid dates for the release or confirmed around when to expect it as yet. But, most probably the DJI Mavic Pro 2 release date should be towards the end of 2017.
DJI Mavic Pro 2 price
Again, there is no concrete evidence to suggest the price of the upcoming drone, but fliers can expect it to be somewhere around the Mavic Pro. Ideally, it should be priced between their cheapest DJI Spark and the current Mavic Pro drone.
