Earlier this month on 6th of March, DJI filed a trademark application for the name ‘DJI Spark’ that started speculation all over the Internet about what it could be. The most obvious conclusion was that the leading drone and quadcopter manufacturing company is set to release a new installment to their already highly rated range of drones.

Leaks show what the ‘Spark’ could be

Shortly after this news broke out, images of the new DJI quadcopter started circulating online. They were first posted on Henry Wang's FaceBook, and then again on another account called SB-DJI.

This confirmed that DJI is, in fact, working on a new drone they are bound to release soon. From the pictures, it seems like it will be a smaller version of the DJI Mavic Pro, having also dubbed it as the “Mini Mavic.”

With various sources talking about the feathers the new DJI Spark looks like it may be a competitor to drones like the Wingsland S6 and ZeroTech Dobby and be marketed as a portable selfie drone.

Everything we know about the DJI Spark

Just from its name, the drone gives the idea of a fast, small and bright aerial device. Having seen the advanced features and flying capabilities of the DJI Mavic Pro Drone, we can only assume that this drone too will come with some of the best in class features.

With a size of around 14cm x 17cm, the Spark has a compact and portable design, but it does not feature foldable arms like the Mavic pro. It will come equipped with a 2-axis camera, which could possibly feature dual lens.

It will have dual ultra-sonic sensors as well as an optical flow camera. It features quick release foldable propellers, a removable battery on the underside of the drone and also has brushless motors.

What would be the DJI Spark price?

Other similar drones in the same range are priced at around $300 to $400, so the DJI Spark too should cost about the same to stay competitive. Though, since this is a DJI product, consumers may be willing to pay a little more, but the product should ideally be priced under $500.
